WHC Certification is the world’s only voluntary sustainability standard for biodiversity enhancement and conservation education on corporate lands. Earning these certifications requires documented, measurable, ongoing work, not a one-time application.
Across Koch companies, the land surrounding many of our facilities is living, breathing wildlife habitat, and for decades, Koch and its companies have been putting in the work to help protect it.
At many Koch sites, conservation projects are in place focused on a number of different initiatives, from conserving neighboring wetlands to protecting critical pollinators and monitoring local water systems. And many of these sites and projects have been recognized by Tandem Global (formerly Wildlife Habitat Council) with WHC Certification for their ongoing efforts over the years.
WHC Certification is the world's only voluntary sustainability standard designed for broad-based biodiversity enhancement and conservation education activities on corporate lands. Programs that achieve certification receive one of three designations: Certified, Certified Silver or Certified Gold.
Koch has received certifications for projects spanning 16 different facilities, covering companies such as Flint Hills Resources, Georgia-Pacfic, INVISTA, Molex and Koch's Wichita headquarters. These 16 WHC-certified facilities include:
Gold
- Flint Hills Resources Corpus Christi (Texas)
- Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend (Minnesota)
- Flint Hills Resources Cottage Grove (Minnesota)
- INVISTA Victoria (Texas)
- Koch Headquarters (Kansas)
Silver
- Georgia-Pacific Big Island (Virginia)
- Georgia-Pacific Leaf River Cellulose (Mississippi)
- Georgia-Pacific Monticello (Mississippi)
- Georgia-Pacific Savannah River Mill (Georgia)
- INVISTA Camden (South Carolina)
Certified:

With this year’s certifications, Flint Hills Resources’ Pine Bend and Cottage Grove facilities are now the only two Gold-certified sites in the state of Minnesota, and the first two ever in the Twin Cities metro area. Koch's headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, was also recertified Gold for its campus-wide commitment to conserving native landscapes, supporting pollinators and advancing wildlife stewardship initiatives. Molex's headquarters in Lisle, Illinois, earned its first-ever WHC Certification for a project that converted more than 17,000 square feet of manicured lawn into diverse native gardens, creating habitat for native plants and pollinators.
Dedicated teams at certified sites pursue these projects through a commitment to Principle Based Management™ and a Stewardship Framework that outlines responsible operations for all Koch companies. Part of Koch’s Stewardship Vision is to create value responsibly while using fewer resources, and these projects are strong examples of protecting biodiversity and conserving the natural resources around us.
