Koch employees showed up to support some of the best softball players in the world in one of the first games of the inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League.
Koch Vice-President of Human Resources Cara Chennault-Reid threw the ceremonial first pitch as Koch welcomed the Athletes Unlimited Softball League to a sold-out Wilkins Stadium in Wichita, Kansas, on opening night of its inaugural season.
Play ball: The league is bringing together some of the best softball players in the world for a 48-game season in 10 U.S. cities. Koch, along with the Chase Koch Foundation, is the presenting local sponsor for the games being held in Wichita. Like a successful softball team, Koch recognizes the importance of getting the right people in the right roles as they work together to achieve a shared vision.
- In addition to being opening night, the game was also Koch Night, with Koch employees and their families showing up to support their new favorite teams and players.
- Koch is also supporting a free youth softball clinic on June 19th. The clinic will give kids the opportunity to learn from and interact with the pros.
The recap: The Volts downed the Blaze 5 – 1 in a thrilling game that went to extra innings. Volts pitcher Rachel Garcia threw the first complete game in Athletes Unlimited Softball League history, while McKenzie Clark’s three-run home run in the top of the 8th inning ensured their late victory.
