A small crowd clapped and cheered as Claudia cut the ribbon to her new home during a recent dedication ceremony. She was full of emotions as she was presented the key and opened the front door for the first time as a homeowner.

“I’m working to build a home where I can create lasting memories and secure a better future for my son,” Claudia said.

She’s moving into a Koch-sponsored Habitat for Humanity home. The house marks Koch’s 12th completed Habitat for Humanity build in Wichita. The effort kicked off in July and involved around 360 employee volunteers who dedicated more than 2,290 hours of labor.

At Koch, we believe in removing barriers, creating opportunities and investing in projects that will help create long-term value in the communities we call home. Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity is one of many avenues that enable Koch employees to make a meaningful difference in their own community.

Wichita Habitat for Humanity works to create affordable housing solutions for families across our community. Their aim is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through homeownership. Homeowners work alongside volunteers and purchase the homes through affordable mortgages, gaining the foundation they need for a better life.

To realize her dream, Claudia tracked more than 324 hours of sweat equity and completed 40 hours of homebuyer education classes to equip herself with the financial tools and maintenance skills needed for successful, long-term homeownership.
