The Wichita Business Journal recently hosted Chase Koch, executive vice president of origination and partnerships at Koch, for the ICT Summit Fireside Chat. The event brought together business leaders from around Wichita and south-central Kansas, and gave Chase an opportunity to share valuable insights into the principles driving both personal and organizational success.

Personal Development and Comparative Advantage

During the chat, Chase emphasized how applying the principle of comparative advantage helps Koch employees reach their full potential. He said Koch assists its employees to find where they can align their passions and skills with activities that can create value. Aligning those values is key to personal growth and enhancing organizational performance.

"If you get those three things right and align a role around that, that's where you are going to be most self-actualized,” he said. “You're going to unlock your potential as a human being and you're probably also going to create the most value and make the most money."

Commitment to the Wichita Community

Chase told the audience he has deep appreciation for the Wichita community, recognizing its role in the continued growth of Koch.

"Wichita is an amazing community, and Koch is incredibly grateful to be here and be a part of it," he said.

He also mentioned some of the great work that’s being done by organizations like The Phoenix, a national movement aimed at overcoming addiction, which Koch helped bring to Wichita. The effort aligns with Koch’s greater philanthropic vision and its focus on empowering individuals to develop bottom-up rather than top-down solutions.

"We believe instead of looking at people with problems as something that needs to be fixed, that those people are the source of the solution," he said.

Koch as a Global Innovator

Chase also discussed Koch's strategy of leveraging its resources to foster innovation among entrepreneurs. Koch does this by offering its capital and capabilities, as well as opportunities to learn about Principle Based Management™.

"We're not just measuring ourselves on return on capital on those investments. We're measuring ourselves on what that can bring in terms of knowledge and transformation value to Koch,” he said.

This approach enables Koch to anticipate and adapt to potential disruptions, ensuring its continued success in a rapidly changing world.

Through a blend of personal development, community engagement and global innovation, Koch continues to drive growth and transformation in Wichita and beyond.
